How Can We, the Community of SWK 305 Respond?

In my morning reflection I read from Sharing God's Heart for the Poor.

Here's a quote that stayed with me:
"Mercy is a voluntary sorrow that joins itself to the suffering of another."
-Gregory of Nyssa, 4th Century.

Just a question that I want us to explore together:
"How can we join in the suffering that has occurred in the Gulf? With our words, actions and intercessions? Any ideas, hopes, or prophetic imaginations?

Practice Acts of Mercy,

"Mercy is a voluntary act..." seems to have been placed on a billboard and surrounded by lights because this is the part of that quote that sticks out the most to me. Mercy is voluntary meaning you DO NOT have to bestow it, which tells me that Jesus DID NOT have to do anything for me at all. He did not have to die and, in doing so, save me from eternal damnation. Nope he didnt have to, but He did. His mercy lead unto death. That leaves me asking "Who are we to withold mercy from anyone? for we are products of mercy ourselves. If it was not for the mercy of God we would not be here. Therefore let's bestow mercy to those who need it right now. Lets put ourselves aside and do all we can to help our brothers and sisters in the gulf. They need the love of Jesus, and that can showed in many different ways. I know we all have something to spare, whether it be finances, clothing, time in prayer and fasting. Whatever you can do, do.
They will know us by our love.

    A Word, A Look, A Touch , An Act
As we have been touched by what has happened in the Gulf. I think to myself Why? Why now, why these people? why children?, why seniors? As I have been praying my questions of why turned into what can i do for my brothers and sisters who are suffering and hurting. All they ever knew has been washed away. I think about all the people who are missing loved ones, mothers being seperated from their heart their children and i wounder what can i do to stop the pain. A word, A look, A touch, An Act is all it takes. Our brothers and sisters in the Gulf not only need to feel the presence of the father but the love of their brothers and sisters here in the North. Reachching out in any way we can. The Love of the Father, The love of Family. Take a look around the campus there are some who have lost family members and who are confused with what has happened to them what do you say? you dont have to say a word just Love.

    Never too late
It is never too late to live with richness, purpose, joy and love. No matter how much time you feel you have wasted or lost, it is never too late to make the very most of the moment you're in.

No matter how many mistakes you may think you have made, it is never too late to start moving in a positive direction. The instant you choose to fully live, the past no longer has the power to hold you back.

Where you are now is precisely where you need to be. With gratitude in your heart for the journey that has brought you here, choose now to make the most of where you are.

Starting from this place you can go in any direction. It is never too late to choose the very best direction you can imagine.

Dig down and get in touch with the real substance of your most treasured dreams. For what matters most is always within your reach.

Move right on past the disappointments, the frustrations, the regrets and the negative assumptions you have accumulated. It is never too late to fully become the real, authentic, unique and valuable person you are.

    -- Ralph Marston

Psalm 96:1-4 O sing unto the LORD a new song: sing unto the LORD, all the earth. Sing unto the LORD, bless his name; shew forth his salvation from day to day. Declare his glory among the heathen, his wonders among all people. For the LORD is great, and greatly to be praised: (KJV)

i feel as brothers and sisters in christ we need to reach otut to people in need more. It does not matter what color or where they came from our job is to be willing workers for christ. God always shares his mercy on us so it not for us to point fingers, we have to make a change.
